Partnerships
Together we are stronger
At Light for the World, partnership is in our DNA. Our impact simply wouldn’t be possible without our partners.
Partnerships generate major improvements in human capacity, ensure the achievement of joint goals, give a greater voice to marginalised communities – and are crucial to achieving lasting systems change.
We engage with communities, governments, Organisations of People with Disabilities, civil society and businesses—sharing data, lessons, learnings, tools and experiences–both ways. We openly report to our international donors and supporters.
We are committed to strengthening local structures and capacity, building on local ownership and focusing on sustainability of the interventions it supports.
Participation
At Light for the World, we endorse the disability movement’s motto “nothing about us without us”.
OPDs – organisations of persons with disabilities – are crucial to our work, and indeed all development work.
These organisations fight for the empowerment of women and men, girls and boys with disabilities and make their voices and interests heard. Their active participation in policy and programme development and in politics shape our societies and contribute to the removal of social, physical, communication, legal, and institutional barriers
Light for the World values the partnerships with OPDs that inform our programmes, joint engage in policy work, provide capacity building support, and connect different powerful stakeholders.
